Georges Joseph Christian Simenon was one of the most important twentieth century writers, able to write more than 60 pages a day. He published about two hundred novels with many pseudonyms and numerous short works like articles and biographics works. He is best known for the creation of the detective Maigret, a fictional police detective . Seventy-five novels and twenty-eight short stories about Maigret were published between 1931 and 1972. Simenon made a huge success in the world and sold more than 550 million of copies of his works.
